Does Needing Counselling Mean I’m a Failure?

Does needing counselling mean I’m a failure?

Absolutely not!

It can be hard to ask for help and sometimes even harder to accept it, especially when we’re feeling vulnerable. We all need help and support throughout our lives and accepting help can be really brave.

Life can be really hard, especially lately and you would have to be superhuman to never need help so there is nothing wrong with wondering whether counselling might be a good step for you.

A term that we’re all talking about so much lately (me included) is self-care.

Therapy is a great form of self-care, it’s 50 minutes every week that’s just for you to talk about yourself or whatever it is you feel you need to focus on that week. So, if counselling can help keep you in check, make sure you’re taking care of yourself and doing all those wonderful things we know self-care can do… It can only be a good thing, right?

There are loads of reasons to come to therapy, it doesn’t always mean there’s a problem or there’s something wrong with you and it definitely doesn’t mean you’re failing at anything.
