What Can I Expect From Online Counselling?

What to expect from online counselling

Online counselling works much the same as in-person counselling except you’re sat in the comfort of your own home or wherever you choose to have your counselling (during the pandemic, I had to resort to having my own counselling in my car as it was the only privacy I could find!)

Online counselling also means that there is no commute, so you can save time and money travelling and just get cosy and ready for your session. You can even turn up in your pyjamas and freshly washed hair if you decide to – whatever is going to help you get the most out of your session.

So, what can you expect from an online counselling session?

When working with me, you can expect to be greeted with a warm hello on the other end of your screen. Much like in person, I feel it’s important to help you to feel welcomed and comfortable at a time when you’re probably feeling awkward and anxious.

I use Zoom for my work so the day before our session is due to take place, I will send you a password-protected Zoom invitation via email. The following day, at the time of our session you can click the link in the email, type in the password, and be greeted by my face – that simple!

Only you and I will have access to this meeting and to the password I have given you.

I always send a short list of tips to help you get the most out of any online session beforehand and you can use this to refer to if you’re unsure of anything but I’m always happy to answer any questions or concerns you might have.
